The
Designated Family Program is a network
of foster families who care for children of all
ages in the intimacy of a family setting - the
least restrictive out-of-home placement.
Our
foster parents are willing to open their homes
at a moment's notice--for both short and long-term
care. Referrals are primarily from Allegheny County
Children, Youth, and Family Services.
Circle
C foster children and their families receive strong
support and casework services by program staff.
Several families have also been specially trained
to care for children with medical and/or emotional
needs. |

Whenever
possible, the goal is to reunite a young person
with his or her family. If that is not possible,
the goal is to establish and preserve the best
possible relationship between them. Our Designated
Families are vital in this process. With Circle
C's support, Designated Family members often
help a child to understand some of
the forces at work in their family relationships.
Through a cooperative effort between Designated
Parents, Circle C, referring agencies, birth families and other therapeutic resources, a child's
needs are addressed in the least restrictive environment.
The Designated Family Program offers caring, committed
families an opportunity to open their homes to
children in need and to offer both the children
and their birth families a new understanding
of family life.
The Designated Family Program is always
looking for qualified, caring
families
to participate.
