- I n 2006 , more than
110 children and youth were served , 100% of
whom were from Allegheny County.
- About 60% of Circle C kids are discharged to
home, adoption, independence or some other less
restrictive setting.
- Group home placements last about 5-6 months,
and 16-20 months in foster care.
- Circle
C foster families have
adopted 68 special needs children over the last
13 years.
- Family therapists are available
to provide individual and family counseling to
group home residents.
- Dedicated support staff coordinate
medical/dental, mental health, and educational/vocational
needs.
- The summer school program
has helped improve reading and math skills for
over 25 years.
- Certified teachers tutor
at each of the group home programs throughout
the school year.
- Residents participate in a wide variety of recreational opportunities, including athletic events, theater, movies, and summer vacations.
- Special funds are available to provide extras like prom attire, senior pictures, athletic equipment, visits with distant family members, college application fees, furnishings for first apartments, etc.
